Well m'dears, the BIP (Book In Progress, of course) has hit the halfway point. I think. So long as it doesn't expand on me again. Still don't have a title, which I never do at this stage. Why does the shortest part of the book always seem the most difficult to concoct? There's a question right up there with angels on heads of pins, single hands clapping and licking one's way to the center of a Tootsie Pop. The world may never know.
So I shall simply have to badger a bunch of you for title suggestions on my next book-signing tour. Yes, I no sooner get back from visiting my brother in California than my agent tells me I'll be crossing the country again in April. This trip, however, kicks off in Boise. My publishing company works with others to encourage aspiring writers at colleges nationwide by connecting them with published authors for informal talks. The students at Boise State University actually requested my presence, so I'll have a chat with them at 2pm on Friday, April 8th, with a signing in the university bookstore afterward.
For those of you who can't make it on Friday, I have another signing and talk scheduled on Saturday the 9th at The Rediscovered Bookshop at 180 North 8th Street, just a few blocks over the river from the University. We plan to start at one and keep going as long as the questions do. And if you ask very sweetly, I just might read a few scenes from the BIP.
After Boise I have stops scheduled in Spokane, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Sacramento and Reno. I'll post the rest of the schedule later in the week, once a few more details get worked out. Looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can!
Ah-heh, my flatmate just stumbled in from her night shift and asked me what the hell I'm still doing up, tossing in a few speculations about my sanity for good measure. So touching, her concern for my welfare. Love you too, Abby. She does have a point though, so oíche mhaith agus codladh sámh (that's good night and sleep well) for now.
